Transfer a domain in

You can move a domain you own elsewhere to your host, and it gets one extra year when it arrives.

  • Ask your current provider for the transfer code. It is also called an auth or EPP code.
  • Unlock the domain at your current provider.
  • A domain registered less than 60 days ago cannot move yet.
  1. In your host’s shop, open the transfer page. From your client area, go to Domains and choose the link that starts Transfer a domain to, followed by your host’s name.
  2. Type the Domain name and paste the Transfer code.
  3. Under Checks, we ask the registry whether the domain is unlocked and old enough. Fix anything it flags, then choose Check again.
  4. Choose Add transfer to cart. The price is for Transfer, with 1 extra year added. The year is added to your current expiry date.
  5. Check out and pay as for any order. See Buy a domain or hosting.

Your website and email keep working during the move. Most transfers finish within a week.

Open the domain from Domains. While it moves, it shows In progress and the day it is on.

Want it faster? Your old provider emails you a link to approve the transfer. Approving it usually finishes the move the same day.

If the registry does not accept the code, the page says Needs a new code. Get a fresh code from your old provider, paste it under New transfer code and choose Send the new code. There is nothing more to pay.

Choose Cancel the transfer…, then Cancel the transfer. The domain stays with your old provider. If you paid, we ask for a refund to your wallet, and a person approves it.

To move a domain from your host to another provider, open it and choose Move to another registrar. Choose Turn the lock off, then Show the auth code. Both ask for your two-step code first. Give the code only to the new registrar.
